COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 9 Ohio State women's swimming and diving team finished tied for ninth at the NCAA Championships, which wrapped up on Saturday. It is the fourth consecutive year the Buckeyes have finished in the top 10, the most consecutive top 10 NCAA finishes in program history.
The Buckeyes totaled 162 points and tied with NC State. The only Big Ten school to finish above the Buckeyes was Indiana, who placed seventh with 206 points. Ohio State placed above rival Michigan; the Wolverines finished 12th with 147.5 points.
"I am incredibly proud of the team and staff for grinding out a top-10 finish," said Director of Swimming and Diving Bill Dorenkott. "It was a total team effort, from diving to relays, from sprint to distance and all the stroke events. If you look at where this group was coming out of high school to where they are now and what they have achieved, it is simply remarkable. We talk a lot about developing young women; the gap between theory and testimony is a meet like this one."
On the final day of competition, Maya Geringer, Amy Fulmer, Katherine Zenick, Janie Boyle, Ciara McGing, and the 400 free relay team collected All-American honors.
Geringer placed 12th in the 1650 free to earn Honorable Mention All-American honors. She finished in a time of 15:59.60.
