Buckeyes In a Nutshell
- Ohio State is coming off a 13-10 loss to No. 3 Notre Dame last Saturday. In front of a stadium-record crowd, the Buckeyes outshot the defending national champions and came within one of the Irish at the end of the third quarter. Blake Eiland tallied his first career hat trick in the game and Matt Caputo also added a three-goal outing on his first three goals of the season.
- Caleb Fyock has made double-digit saves in the Buckeyes' last three games against top-10 opponents. The freshman made 11 stops in the Buckeyes' game against the Fighting Irish and enters the week top of the Big Ten in goals against average (9.66) and second in the league in save percentage (.548).
- Gannon Matthews, Ben Mayer and Ed Shean are tied with 15 points for the Buckeyes this season. Matthews leads the team with 13 goals and Shean has a team-high seven assists.
- The Buckeyes' defensive effort has not allowed over 13 goals in a game this season. The team ranks seventh nationally in scoring defense, averaging just 9.43 goals per game. The mark leads the Big Ten.
- Alex Marinier tallied a goal in the game against Notre Dame to extend his team-leading active goal streak to six games. Entering the year, the junior from Burlington, Ont. had not scored a goal.
- At the faceoff X, Tommy Burke leads the team with a .595 win percentage. The team is top-20 in the category and Burke ranks third in the Big Ten.
- Tuesday's game is the team's first against a team outside the top-20 since Feb. 17. After tomorrow, the remainder of Ohio State's six regular season opponents are ranked.
