Shipley, Buckeyes Finish Fourth at Hayt Invitational

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Neal Shipley shot a final round 73 and finished in fourth place at the Hayt Invitational on Monday at Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. His finish also helped the team finish in fourth place in the strong 14-team field.
Shipley carded rounds of 69-73-73 to record his third Top 5 finish of the season and the fourth of his career. He played the par-4s at 1-udner for the tournament, which was second-best in the field.
Adam Wallin had a tough Monday, carding a 77, but it wasn’t a bad weekend for the Sweden native as he finished in a tie for 11th at 1-over par. He opened the tournament with a pair of 2-under par 70s, which was more than 10 shots lower than the field average over those two rounds.
Maxwell Moldovan tied for the most pars in the field this week, making 40 in the 54 holes. His rounds of 71-74-74 put him in a tie for 18th at 3-over par. That was the 30th Top-20 finish of his career.
Jackson Chandler posted a final round 77 to finish in a tie for 41st at 9-over par. Topher Reed posted a 79 on Monday while Jacob Tarkany carded an 80.
The Buckeyes will have a couple weeks off before returning to Florida for the Valspar Collegiate on March 25 and 26. Ohio State has faired well at the Valspar in previous years, finishing fourth last year and Moldovan has posted a pair of Top 5 finishes.
