
Season Opens for Buckeyes with Two Homes Games

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women's lacrosse team kicks off the 2024 season with two games in Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium this weekend. The Buckeyes will host Robert Morris at 4 p.m. Friday and Kent State at 1 p.m. Sunday. Admission and parking are free to all Buckeye regular season home games. The games will be streamed through Big Ten Plus (subscription required) and live statistics can be linked from OhioStateBuckeyes.com. Friday the first 100 fans will receive a team poster and there will be a postgame meet and greet. Sunday is Military Appreciation day and military members will receive a 25 percent discount at concessions.

- Amanda Moore is in her first year as the head coach of the Buckeyes after seven seasons at East Carolina. (Read more on Coach Moore)
- Moore started her coaching career as an assistant coach at Ohio State for two years and had assistant coaching positions at Boston University and Duke before she was selected to lead the new program at ECU.
- Ally Kennedy and Tianna Wallpher are the Buckeye assistant coaches.
- Kennedy was an All-American at Stony Brook who was on the gold medal winning Team USA squad at the 2022 World Championships. She coached at her alma mater and at Virginia before coming to Ohio State.
- Wallpher had an outstanding career as a defender at Towson, where she earned All-America honors. She spent time coaching at Towson and Johns Hopkins before joining Moore on the staff at ECU.
- Ohio State is 8-0 all-time vs. Robert Morris. This is the third year in a row the teams are meeting in Columbus to open the season. Ohio State notched a 17-5 win in 2022 and an 18-6 victory last season vs. the Colonials. Seven of the first eight games were in Columbus, with the series starting in 2006.
- The Buckeyes and Kent State have met just once, a 22-11 Buckeye victory in Columbus in 2020.
- Kent State was picked to finish first in the Mid-American Conference preseason coaches poll, while Robert Morris was picked to finish third.
- This year, the Buckeyes will host seven regular season home games in Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium and will travel for nine road contests.
- After this weekend, the next three games will be on the road, vs. instate foes Youngstown State Feb. 16 and Akron Feb. 18 before heading to No. 4 Denver Feb. 23.
- After hosting Butler March 2, Big Ten play kicks off for Ohio State at No. 12 Michigan March 7.
- The next week includes home games vs. Marquette March 12 and No. 9 Maryland March 16.
- Ohio State will travel for a B1G matchup at No. 14 Johns Hopkins March 23 and then return to Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium for a Thursday night game vs. No. 18 Penn State.
- A stretch of three straight road games follows, with nonconference tilts at Cincinnati April 5 and Louisville April 9 and a B1G game at No. 1 Northwestern April 13.
- The home and B1G slate wrap up April 18 vs. Rutgers and the regular season closes at Temple April 21.
- Big Ten Tournament quarterfinal games will be on campus sites April 27 and Northwestern will host the semifinals and final May 2 and 4.Â
- BTN announced its lacrosse television schedule Wednesday, with two Buckeye home games – March 16 vs. Maryland and March 28 vs. Penn State – slated to be televised on the network.
- Three Buckeyes - Jamie Lasda, an attacker, goalie Regan Alexander and midfielder Emily Magalotti - were recognized as Big Ten Players to Watch heading into the campaign.
- Ohio State returns four of its top seven scorers from 2023.
- Lasda was first on the team in assists (30) and points (57) and ranked second with 27 goals. Casey Roberts had 22 points, with 16 goals, and Zoe Coleman notched 11 goals and five assists for 16 points. Annie Hargraves was among the leaders with 13 goals.
- Alexander, the starter in goal the last two years, is back for her senior season.
- Magalotti, Sarah Johnson and Katie Kaucheck, who each started at least 12 games on defense last year, all return.
- Alexander led the Buckeyes with 46 ground balls last season and Magalotti was second with 30, followed by Johnson with 26. Lasda is back after ranking third on last year's squad with 35 draw controls. Magalotti had a team-best 14 caused turnovers in 2023.
- Lasda, Alexander, Magalotti and Leah Sax were selected captains for the Buckeyes for 2023-24.
- This is the second season the Buckeyes are playing in their new home, Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium. Among the highlights are 360-degree vantage points and a heated turf.
