Buckeyes Begin Year with 19-3 Win over Robert Morris

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women's lacrosse team started the 2024 campaign with a 19-3 victory over Robert Morris Friday in Columbus, Ohio. The Buckeyes led 5-2 after the first quarter and pushed the lead to 12-2 at the half en route to the win.

Eleven Buckeyes had at least one goal and point in the victory. Annie Hargraves and Jamie Lasda each recorded a hat trick and Brynn Ammerman had a four-point day with two goals and two assists. The Buckeyes, who outshot RMU 34-11, held the Colonials scoreless for a 33:16 stretch in the game to pull away.

- Robert Morris got on the board at 10:47. Brynn Ammerman scored for Ohio State at 7:26, answered by the Colonials a minute later for a 4-2 game with 6:26 left in the first.
- The Buckeyes then went on a 10-goal run, while shutting out the Colonials for 33:16.
- Hargraves scored with 14 seconds left in the first for a 5-2 game after 15 minutes.
- Ohio State scored seven times in the second quarter while shutting out the Colonials.

- Sax notched her second of the day less than a minute into the third quarter and Gabby Cleveland recorded her first goal in the Scarlet and Gray at 5:55.
- The Colonials ended their scoreless streak and the Buckeye run with a goal at 3:10.
- Buckeye sophomore Casey Roberts, who had two helpers on the day, scored a goal of her own in the final minute of the third.
- Three Buckeyes notched their first collegiate goals in the final quarter. Freshmen Maeve Simonds and Kate Tyack each tallied and sophomore Kit Zanelli had two goals to close out the scoring.
- Ohio State outshot Robert Morris 34-11, allowing just one shot in both the third and fourth quarters. RMU's goalies combined for nine saves and the Buckeye goalies posted four stops.
- Ohio State won the ground ball battle, 19-12, and had more draw controls, 17-6.
- The Buckeyes caused 11 turnovers. Goalie Regan Alexander had a team-high three and Lilli Sherman and Roberts each had two caused turnovers.
- Alexander also was first with three ground balls, while Hargraves, Ammerman, Sherman and Amani Kimball-McKavish each had two.
- Stone had a team-best five draw controls, with Lasda recording three.
- Ohio State is 9-0 all-time vs. Robert Morris, with eight of the games in Columbus. This is the third year in a row the teams met to open the season.
- Lasda extended her point streak to seven, with 14 goals, 12 assists and 26 points in the stretch. It was her ninth career game with a hat trick or better. Lasda has 67 goals, 43 assists and 100 points in her 43-game Buckeye career.
- The hat trick was the third of Hargraves' career.
- Ammerman also had a four-point day, with two goals and two assists, vs. Robert Morris last season. She now has three carer two-goal outings.
- Coleman marked her fourth career two-goal game.
- Roberts, who had a goal and two assists for three points, now has six career multiple-point outings. It was her third game with two helpers.
- Sax had her first multiple-goal outing in the Scarlet and Gray.
- All 37 Buckeyes dressed for the game saw minutes.
- Ammerman, Hargraves, Sax and Sherman all made their first career starts. They were joined by junior transfer Sophie Patton and freshman Audrey Schoemer in the starting lineup.
- The game was the first for Amanda Moore as head coach of the Buckeyes.
