COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men's lacrosse team picked up its second win in as many weekends with a 13-6 victory over Cleveland State Saturday afternoon at Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium. Eleven players tallied a point and goalie Caleb Fyock made his first collegiate start for the Buckeyes (2-0).
The Short Story
After falling behind 3-0 early in the first quarter, Ohio State went on a seven-goal scoring run to eliminate Cleveland State's lead. The team tallied five goals in the last eight minutes of the first quarter to jump in front of the Vikings (1-1). The Buckeyes allowed just one goal in each subsequent quarter.
Gannon Matthews, Kurt Bruun, Alex Marinier and Kyle Lewis each recorded two goals in the game. Bruun and Ed Shean lead the team with three points on the day with Shean dishing a team-high two assists.
Freshman Caleb Fyock made his first career start on Saturday, making 13 saves on the day. Graduate transfer Danny Brady also saw his first minutes as a Buckeyes, making two stops in the fourth quarter. Tommy Burke won 15-of-20 faceoffs and scooped up a team-high 11 ground balls.
The Buckeyes caused five turnovers in the game and won the ground ball battle 42-23.

How The Goals Were Scored
- Cleveland State's Wyatt Robertson scored the first two goals of the game and teammate Alex Van Voorhis tallied the team's third to take the 3-0 lead at 8:16 in the first quarter.
- Ohio State scored its first five of seven unanswered goals in the first quarter, with Jack McKenna, Ben Mayer, Gannon Matthews, Ari Allen and Ed Shean scoring in the opening quarter for the Buckeyes.
- Alex Marinier continued the run in the second quarter, recording his first two career goals at 14:25 and 6:27 to complete the team's scoring run and extend the Buckeye lead to 7-5.
- Cleveland State's Carson Croy found the back of the net with 2:32 to play in the quarter, but Kyle Lewis capitalized on the extra man opportunity to restore Ohio State's four-goal lead and put the score at 8-4 at the half.
- Matthews tallied his second of the day just seven seconds into the third quarter. After a response from Cleveland State's Van Voorhis two and a half minutes later, Kurt Bruun scored two consecutive goals for his first goals as a Buckeye to extend Ohio State's lead.
- The Buckeyes' final goals of the game came from Lewis and Sam Burns in the fourth quarter. Burns recorded his first career goal with 2:32 to play to give Ohio State 13 goals against Cleveland State.
- The Vikings snuck in a goal with under a minute to play but the Buckeyes finished the day with a five-goal lead.
