Adedokun, Samways Drafted in MLS Draft Friday

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Michael Adedokun, a senior midfielder from Eruwa, Nigeria, was selected with the 13th pick in the first round of the 2024 MLS Draft Friday. He was selected by FC Montreal.
Anthony Samways, a senior defender from Loveland, Ohio, was taken early in the second round with the 34th overall pick by Sporting Kansas City.
Adedokun, a finalist for the 2024 MAC Hermann Award, earned United Soccer Coaches First Team All-America honors along with the 2024 Big Ten Midfielder of the Year Award.
With Adedokun leading the way with 11 goals, 11 assists and 33 points this year, the Buckeyes finished with a 16-2-4 record, won the 2024 Big Ten Tournament, shared the league regular-season title and advanced to the semifinals of the 2024 College Cup in Cary, North Carolina.
Samways was part of a defense that held opponents to just 19 goals on the season while recording 10 shutouts. Ohio State allowed a goal or less in 16 games and held opponents to just two goals in five postseason contests.
Laurence Wootton was the last Buckeye taken in the MLS Draft. He was chosen by Chicago Fire FC in the third round of the 2023 MLS Draft.
Roger Espinoza was the last Buckeye selected in the first round of the MLS Draft. He was chosen by Kansas City with the No. 11 pick in 2007.
