Carfagna tallies for Ohio State, Terness stops 36 shots
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 13/12 Ohio State men's hockey team lost the weekend series finale at No. 4/3t Michigan State, 4-1, Saturday in Munn Ice Arena in East Lansing, Mich. The Spartans swept the series, with a 4-2 win Friday, and are now 7-1-0 on the year (2-0-0 0-0-0 B1G) and the Buckeyes are 7-2-1 (2-2-0 1-0-0 B1G).
The Buckeyes opened the scoring with a power play goal in the second period but two Spartan goals in a 68-second span late in the stanza gave Michigan State a lead it would not relinquish. The Spartans scored at 12:20 of the third for a 3-1 advangae and added an empty net goal for the 4-1 final. Blueliner Damien Carfagna tallied for the Buckeyes and also had a team-best five shot blocks. Goalie Logan Terness made 36 saves in the Buckeye net.
Quoting head coach Steve Rohlik
"We got off to the start we wanted and were able to take the lead, but we couldn't sustain it through a full 60 minutes. We just weren't good enough at the end of the day to get the win."
