No. 14 Buckeyes Head to Lindenwood for Two Games

The Basics
- The No. 14 Ohio State men's hockey team continues its stretch of six-consecutive road games with a series at Lindenwood this weekend.Â
- The teams will meet at 8:10 p.m. ET Friday and 3 p.m. ET Saturday in Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Mo.
- The games will be streamed through LindenwoodLions.com and live stats will be available through OhioStateBuckeyes.com.
- Ohio State enters the series 7-2-1 after dropping two games at then-No. 4/3t Michigan State last weekend. Lindenwood is 2-7-1 and fell twice at No. 1-ranked Denver last weekend.Â
- The Buckeyes and Lions met for the first time last season, with Ohio State 1-0-1 in the series in Columbus Oct. 13-14, 2023.
- Ohio State is No. 14 in both the USCHO and USA Hockey/The Rink Live rankings this week.
- The series vs. Lindenwood is the second of three straight on the road for the Buckeyes. Up next, Ohio State will have an open weekend before heading to Princeton Thanksgiving weekend for two games. The first half ends with home series vs. Penn State (Dec. 5-6) and Notre Dame (Dec. 13-14).
- The Buckeyes are in the Top 15 in the country in scoring offense (3.5 goals per game), scoring defense (2.10 goals allowed per game) and scoring margin (+1.40).
- Five Buckeyes have at least 50 career points, with Patrick Guzzo joining the club last weekend. Gunnarwolfe Fontaine is first with 105, Aiden Hansen-Bukata has 76, Davis Burnside has recorded 56, Joe Dunlap has 51 and Guzzo now has 50. Goalie Logan Terness made his 50th collegiate start earlier this year.
Sophomore forward Riley Thompson (3g, 7a) and junior defenseman Damien Carfagna (4g, 6a) lead the Buckeyes with 10 points each.
- Ohio State and Lindenwood met for the first time last season, with the Buckeyes posting a 4-2 win Oct. 13, 2023 and the teams tying 2-2 the next night.
- Lindenwood, which competes as an independent, joined Division I hockey in the 2022-23 season.
- The Buckeyes were 1-0-1 vs. Lindenwood Oct. 13-14, 2023 in Columbus, with a 4-2 win and 2-2 OT tie.Â
- In game one, Jake Dunlap scored just 90 seconds into the game but Lindenwood answered less than three minutes later. Stephen Halliday's tally broke the tie midway through the first but a Lions' power play goal knotted the score at two at 16:38 and the teams went into intermission deadlocked at two. The only goal of the second came from Brent Johnson on the power play at 10:41. Davis Burnside added an insurance goal in the third. The Buckeyes outshot Lindenwood, 45-28, in the game, with Logan Terness making 26 saves. Johnson, Burnside and Halliday each had a goal and an assist in the win, while Michael Gildon had two helpers.Â
- Ohio State led 1-0 after the first period on a Theo Wallberg power play goal and was up 2-0 through 40 minutes with Scooter Brickey scoring in the second. Lindenwood drew within one early in the third and then tied the game with 2:15 remaining. Neither team was able to score in the five-minute 3-on-3 overtime. An exhibition shootout followed, with Ohio State winning on goals from Burnside and Cam Thiesing and two saves from Terness. Terness ended the game with 26 saves, as Ohio State outshot Lindenwood, 35-28. The Buckeyes were 2-for-2 on the penalty kill, including a major, and were 1-for-5 on the power play.
- Ohio State will have an open weekend before heading to Princeton Thanksgiving weekend for two games. Puck drop at Princeton will be at 7 p.m. Nov. 29 and 4 p.m. Nov. 30.
