Nishino Named B1G Athlete of the Week

Freshman was 6-0 at MSU Spartan Invite
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Nao Nishino, a freshman on the Ohio State women's tennis team, has been selected the Big Ten Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday. She led the Buckeyes with a perfect 6-0 mark at the MSU Spartan Invite last weekend. Â
The native of Tokyo, Japan, posted three straight-set wins in Flight A singles to capture the flight title. She downed players from DePaul (6-0, 6-2), Michigan State (6-3, 6-2) and Northwestern (6-2, 6-2). In doubles, Nishino and Dani Schoenly paired up for three wins, topping duos from Butler (6-0), Michigan State (6-3) and DePaul (6-2).Â
This fall, Nishino is 11-3 in singles, with a 6-5 doubles ledger.Â
