Buckeyes competing for NCAA spots this week in Ann Arbor
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Five members of the Ohio State women's tennis are in Ann Arbor, Mich., for the ITA Central Sectional Championships this week, looking to secure berths in this fall's NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships. The tournament is slated to be played outside at the Varsity Tennis Center and admission is free.

Shelly Bereznyak, Teah Chavez, Sydni Ratliff and Audrey Spencer will compete in the singles tournament, with Spencer and Luciana Perry in the doubles draw. Perry already has a spot in the NCAA Singles Championship after winning the ITA Midwest Regional title.

Only players and doubles teams who have yet to earn a berth in the NCAA Championships and have made deep runs at the ITA All-American or ITA Regional Championships are eligible to participate.

Each of the four sectional championships features a 32-player singles draw and a 16-team doubles draw. Six singles players (semifinalists and two quarterfinal playoff winners) and three doubles teams (champion, finalist, third-place team) from each sectional will secure spots into the NCAA Championships, which will be held Nov. 19-24 in Waco, Texas. The ITA Central Sectional includes teams from the Midwest, Central and Texas regions.

Play is slated to start on Thursday with singles at 10 a.m. and doubles at 2:30 p.m. Friday includes the singles round of 16 at 10 a.m., with singles consolation indoors at the same time, and doubles quarterfinals and consolation quarterfinals at 2:30 p.m. Saturday will have singles quarterfinals and consolation quarterfinals at 10 a.m. and singles consolation semifinals at noon, followed by doubles semifinals and consolation semifinals at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, the singles quarterfinal playoff, semifinals and consolation final are scheduled for 10 a.m., with the singles final at noon. At 2:30 p.m., the doubles final, third place playoff and consolation final will be held.
