
Buckeyes Battle Seventh-Ranked Badgers in Madison, Fall in Five Sets

Ohio State fought back against No. 7 Wisconsin after losing the first two sets to play five on Wednesday night.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women's volleyball team (14-15, 7-12 B1G) fell to No. 7 Wisconsin (22-6, 16-3 B1G) in five sets (23-25, 14-25, 25-21, 26-24, 12-15) on Wednesday night in Madison.
The first set was tight throughout, featuring 14 ties and seven lead changes, before Wisconsin scored the final four points to take the set by a 25-23 margin. The Badgers led the second set from start to finish and earned a 25-14 set win. The Buckeyes grabbed an early lead in the third set and held off a late Wisconsin push to earn a 25-21 set win. Ohio State fended off a Wisconsin match point and scored the final three points of the set to win by a 26-24 margin and force a fifth.
Grace Egan was the first Buckeye to reach 10 kills and finished the match with a career-high 22 kills. Emily Londot continued her double figure kill streak with 17 kills and Rylee Rader finished with 10 kills on a .588 hitting percentage. Emmi Sellman recorded a career-high 15 digs and Olivia Hasbrook (13), Londot (12) and Egan (10) joined her in double figures. This is Londot's 17th double-double of the season and Egan's fourth.

Emmi Sellman opened scoring in the match, but a pair of back-to-back points saw Wisconsin up by a 7-5 margin. Ohio State responded with a 3-0 run before the Badgers scored two points to take the lead back. After being tied at 10, the Buckeyes scored five of the next six points to take a 15-11 lead into the media timeout. Wisconsin battled back to tie the set at 18. The teams alternated points before back-to-back Badger points gave them a 21-20 lead. Following an OSU timeout, the Buckeyes scored three-unanswered points to take a 23-21 lead, but the Badgers tied the set again at 23. Wisconsin scored the next two points to take the set by a 25-23 margin.

The Badgers scored back-to-back points on a trio of occasions to increase their lead to 13-6 and force a Buckeye timeout. The teams traded pairs of points and Ohio State called a second timeout trailing 18-11. Wisconsin put together an extended 6-1 run to build its lead to 22-12 and sealed a 25-14 set win.

The set was tied at 16 before a 4-0 Buckeye run gave Ohio State a 20-16 lead amidst a Wisconsin timeout. It was the Buckeyes turn to call timeout trailing 21-20 after a 5-0 Badger run. Ohio State faced a Wisconsin match point trailing 24-23 before back-to-back Londot kills led to a 26-24 Buckeyes set win and forced a fifth set.
