
Buckeyes Ready for MSU Spartan Invite

Tournament runs Friday through Sunday in East Lansing, Mich.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – This weekend, four members of the Ohio State women's tennis team will compete in the MSU Spartan Invite hosted by Michigan State in East Lansing, Mich. The Buckeyes will be joined by players from host Michigan State, Butler, DePaul, Eastern Michigan, Iowa and Northwestern.

Megan Basil (Flight D), Alessia Cau (Flight B), Nao Nishino (Flight A) and Dani Schoenly (Flight B) will compete for the Buckeyes in the event. Each day is expected to have singles at 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and noon and a round of doubles at 2 p.m. Play will be in the MSU Indoor Tennis Center.

Singles will be played out as a compass draw and doubles will be played in a round pods system.

Buckeye This and That
- Alessia Cau is 9-5 in singles this fall, with Dani Schoenly 6-3, Megan Basil 4-3 and Nao Nishino 8-3.
- The Buckeyes last competed in the UT Home Invite Oct. 25-27. The squad combined for a 15-8 singles record. Shelly Bereznyak and Nishino led the way with 3-0 singles records, with Schoenly, Cau and Luciana Perry each 2-1.
- In the first ITA rankings of the season, Luciana Perry and Sydni Ratliff were ranked fourth in doubles, the highest doubles ranking for both Buckeyes. They are the fourth Ohio State doubles team to reach the Top 5, joining Miho Kowase and Anna Sanford, Kowase and Francesca Di Lorenzo and Kristy Dascoli and Monica Rincon.
- In singles, Perry was ranked No. 23, with Ratliff No. 50 and Shelly Bereznyak No. 71.
- Two individual tournaments, the ITA Central Section Championships and ITA Conference Masters Championships will be held Nov. 7-10.
- The NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships have been moved to the fall and will be contested Nov. 19-24 in Waco, Texas. Players can earn berths into the national championships through the four ITA events in the fall. More information on the pathway to the NCAAs is available HERE.
