COLUMBUS, Ohio -- No. 1 Ohio State (10-1-2, 5-1-1) is back in Columbus for its final two home matches before finishing the season at No. 2 Maryland (8-1-5, 5-0-2) Nov. 3. The Buckeyes, who went to No. 1 in both the NCAA Men's Soccer Committee and in the United Soccer Coaches Poll this week, will entertain Northwestern (8-5-1, 2-4-1) at 7 p.m. Friday (B1G+) before honoring the 2024 Senior Class against Michigan State (5-6-3, 4-3-1) next Tuesday (6 p.m./BTN).Â
Ohio State has the best winning percentage in the nation (.846). The Buckeyes lead the nation in winning percentage and corner kicks, are second in shots on goal per game and goal differential and are third in scoring offense, points per game, shots per game and total goals.

- The Buckeyes are No. 1 in the 16-team NCAA Division 1 Men's Soccer Rankings used to seed the field in the 2024 NCAA 48-team tournament. It's the highest ranking in program history. The United Soccer Coaches Poll agreed by ranking the Buckeyes as its unanimous No. 1 this week, also the highest ranking the Buckeyes have achieved.Â
- The 2024 Big Ten Tournament quarterfinal and semifinal rounds will be held in Bridgeview, Illinois, at SeatGeek Stadium. The quarterfinals will be held Nov. 7 (1/3:30/6 p.m./B1G+) between seeds 2-7. The No. 1 seed will get a bye to the semifinals Nov. 10 (3/5:30 p.m./BTN). The highest remaining seed after the semifinals will host the finals on its campus Nov. 17 (3 p.m./BTN).
- Top Drawer Soccer release a couple Top 100 lists with the Buckeyes well represented. In the Midseason Top 100, Michael Adedokun (5), Deylen Vellios (21), Siggi Magnusson (68) and Marko Borkovic (92) all made the list. In the Midseason Top 100 Freshmen, David Ajagbe (25), Patrick McLaughlin (94) and Nick McHenry (97) were recognized.Â
- At 10-1-2 and winners in 10 of the last 11 matches, Ohio State started the season undefeated, the best start in program history, before a 2-1 setback at UCLA. The last time the Buckeyes enjoyed a stretch of 11 games without a loss was in 2007 when over a 15-match stretch, Ohio State posted a record of 12-0-3 on its way to the national title match vs. Wake Forest (L, 1-2, 12/16/2007).Â
- After posting wins at Michigan (6-3) and over Washington at home (2-0), three Buckeyes were named players of the week by the Big Ten Conference. David Wrona scored two match winners and three goals overall to go with two assists to earn offensive POW Oct. 8. Siggi Magnusson was named the defensive POW and Max Trejo (5-0-1) claimed goalkeeper of the week, his second award of the year.Â
- After a pair of shutout wins to open the Big Ten season over Penn State (5-0) and Rutgers (3-0), junior Luciano Pechota and freshman Nick McHenry were awarded the Big Ten Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week awards, respectively. Pechota had three goals in the wins.Â
- For the second time in three seasons, Ohio State finished the non-conference portion of the regular season without a loss. Ohio State was 5-0-3 in 2022 against out-of-league foes on its way to an 11-3-6 overall record and a trip to the second round of the NCAA tournament.
- The Buckeyes earned a 5-0-1 record during the 2024 non-conference schedule. Â
- Ohio State posted a seven-match win streak entering the game against Indiana (2-2). The last time Ohio State had posted seven-consecutive wins was during the 2015 campaign during an eight-match win streak.Â
- In the first United Soccer Coaches poll of the season, Ohio State, unranked in the preseason poll, was tabbed the No. 20 team nationally. In the most recent poll this week, the Buckeyes are ranked No. 5 after reaching their highest ranking in program history at No. 2. Â
- Ohio State opened 2024 Big Ten Conference play with a 5-0 win at Penn State. It's the most goals against the Nittany Lions in the series history. Then, against Michigan, Ohio State scored six times on the road in a 6-3 victory. Ohio State's total was the most against the Wolverines in series history.
- Prior to the Penn State game this year, the last time Ohio State scored five or more goals against a Big Ten opponent was at Wisconsin Oct. 3, 1999 in a 7-3 victory against the Badgers. The Buckeyes also defeated Northwestern at home that season 5-0 Sept. 12.Â
- The six goals against the Wolverines marked just the eighth time Ohio State scored five or more against a Big Ten opponent.Â

- Ohio State earned a pair of Big Ten weekly awards Sept. 17 when the league announced Max Trejo earned the Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Week and Nick Skubis as the Big Ten Freshman of the Week. Trejo was in net for the 1-0 win over Butler Sept. 13. Skubis scored the match winner in the win to claim the rookie award for the second-consecutive week.Â
- With a game-winning goal already to his credit, Nick Skubis was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week (9/10/24) after adding an assist in the win over Xavier (3-1, 9/8/24).Â
