- Played for the Vancouver Whitecaps F.C. (2015-2020)
- Played for the Canadian Men’s U17 team in 2019 and the boys U15 team in 2017.

- Hopes of become a physical therapist.
- Enjoys watching hockey (Pittsburgh Penguins), spending time with family/friends and cooking.
- One of his greatest thrills in sports to date is “walking out of the tunnel in my first World Cup game and looking up into the stands and seeing my parents in the crowd. It was a moment that not every kid gets to experience and I was lucky enough to have my parents along side me the whole way which was special.”
- Another was “qualifying for the World Cup after beating Costa Rica in a Penalty Shootout and celebrating with all my teammates knowing we just did something that no Canadian team had done in over 10 years. The excitement in that moment was irreplaceable and something I will never forget.”
Why did you join OSU men’s soccer program?
“I chose to join OSU’s men’s soccer program because from the moment I walked onto campus, I knew this is where I wanted to be. The coaches and everybody we met with did a wonderful job of welcoming my family and me and really giving us a feeling of, ‘home.’ I felt the school and facilities would be the best place for me to grow as both an athlete and as a student.” — Deylen Vellios

“We are so excited to add Deylen to our Buckeye family. First of all, Deylen is a great young man and has a tremendous attitude. He will be a great asset in the locker room and will do whatever it takes to make the team better. Deylen plays in a great environment with the Vancouver Whitecaps and has tremendous experience playing for Canada’s Youth National Team and at the U17 World Cup. Deylen has the athleticism to defend 1v1 and has the engine to get up and down the flank. Technically Deylen is very comfortable on the ball and has an excellent feel for the game. He can play as a right or left back with the ability to provide service with either foot. Deylen will do very well in college and beyond. We are excited to add him to our program.”
