COLUMBUS, Ohio -- No. 1 Ohio State (11-1-2, 6-1-1) came out aggressively in the second half and scored twice to defeat Northwestern (8-6-1, 2-5-1) 2-0 Friday at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.

Attendance for the match was 3,455, the second-largest crowd in Ohio State history at a men's soccer match.

How it Happened
Neither team scored in the opening half with Ohio State leading in shots, 5-4.

The Buckeyes opened the second half on the attack. Michael Adedokun, Ohio State's leading scorer, gathered the ball in the box and hit the crossbar in the 47' for the game's best offensive opportunity at that point.

Ohio State scored the first goal in the 55' when Luciano Pechota found David Ajagbe open just out front on the right side. He gathered and scored low on the left for the 1-0 lead. Adedokun started the play by creating space just to the left of the Wildcat net before setting up Pechota for a touch pass to Ajagbe.

Ajagbe now has five goals on the year. Pechota has three assists with Adedokun leading the team with nine.

Adedokun then scored his eighth goal of the season in the 69' from a Siggi Magnusson delivery to put the Buckeyes up 2-0. The assist was the first of Magnusson's career.

Max Trejo got the start in net for the Buckeyes. He improved to 6-0-1 on the year after recording one save against the Wildcats.He has nine solo shutouts for his career and one combined clean sheet. He has four shutouts this season.
