How it Happened
- Ohio State scored twice in the first three minutes of the game with the first goal from Dunne at 2:16 and the second from Petrie at 2:48.
- The Buckeyes got an offensive zone faceoff on the first whistle of the day with Jenna Buglioni winning at the dot and Riley Brengman settling the puck at the top of the circle. Brengman left it off for Dunne, who skated the puck into the slot and sent it past St. Cloud State netminder Sanni Ahola at 2:16.
- Just 32 seconds later Petrie gave Ohio State a two-goal advantage with a goal at 2:48. The play started behind the Buckeyes' own net with Brengman. The puck went from Brengman to Emily Zumwinkle and off to Jocelyn Amos, who skated it from inside the Ohio State defensive zone and down around the Huskies goal. Petrie skated into the slot, received the pass from Amos and sent a slap shot into the St. Cloud State goal.
- The Huskies were awarded a power play after an Ohio State penalty for cross checking at 12:59 and scored four seconds later.
- Dunne scored the lone goal in the second period on the Buckeye power play 3:08 into the frame. Ohio State found itself on a 5-on-3 power play with St. Cloud State committing a minor (cross check) and major (hit from behind) penalty 1:00 into the period. Just seconds after St. Cloud State killed off the minor, Dunne lined up from essentially the same position she scored her first goal from to extend the Ohio State lead to two.
- The Buckeyes maintained most of the possession in the middle frame with Ohio State goaltender Amanda Thiele facing just one shot and Ohio State allowing St. Cloud State to take only two shots in the period.
- Ohio State added another two goals in the third period to secure another ranked win. The Buckeyes were on the penalty kill with nine minutes to play in the final frame and Buglioni took the puck shorthanded into the Huskies' zone and scored at 10:58.
- Petrie added her second goal of the day with 8:14 to play in the game. After Jordan Baxter and Emma Peschel passed back-and-forth at the top of the Huskies' zone, Petrie skated it into the slot and sent it past Ahola to give the Buckeyes the 5-1 lead.
- Both Dunne and Petrie scored twice on the day. The game was Petrie's second multi-goal game of the season and Dunne's first.
- Peschel led the team with three points on three assists against the Huskies.
- Thiele made nine saves to earn her fourth win of the season. Her career record is now 57-10-2, tying her for most career wins by an Ohio State goaltender.
- Ohio State is the first team to score on St. Cloud State's penalty kill this season. The Huskies' PK was 18-for-18 entering the game.
- Jenna Buglioni is the first Buckeye to score shorthanded this year. She has four shorthanded goals for her career, good to tie for fourth in the Ohio State record book for career shorthanded goals.
