How it Happened
- Ohio State was first on the scoreboard Saturday with Jocelyn Amos capitalizing on the Buckeyes' first power play opportunity of the day 17:10 into the game. Brengman sent a pass across the neutral zone to Joy Dunne, who was entering the Huskies zone with Amos. Dunne got the pass over to Amos in the slot and the Ailsa Craig, Ont. native beat Emilia Kyrkkö glove side to give the Buckeyes a 1-0 lead.
- Jordan Baxter scored 1:33 into the second period to grow the Ohio State advantage to two goals. She skated the puck into the zone alongside Kiara Zanon and Sloane Matthews and sent a shot from the faceoff dot past the glove of Kyrkkö for her first goal of the season.
- The Huskies responded with two unanswered goals in the second. The first came at 3:18 on the power play. The second was scored at 7:26 in the period, after Ohio State's Joy Dunne and St. Cloud State's Emma Gentry were assessed game misconducts and both teams took two minors for roughing at 6:13.
- Buckeye captain Jenna Buglioni broke the tie at 17:13 in the third on the power play. Jordyn Petrie took a shot from the point that rebounded in front of Kyrkkö and Buglioni was there to knock it into the net to put Ohio State ahead, 3-2.
- On the power play with under two minutes to play in the game, St. Cloud State had a 6-on-4 advantage after pulling Kyrkkö and scored with 1:01 left in regulation to send the game to overtime tied at 3-all.
- Ohio State came close to scoring in the final minute of the overtime period, but the teams remained tied after five minutes to officially rule the game a tie.
- In the shootout, St. Cloud State's Sofianna Sundelin scored in the first round and Ohio State goaltender Hailey MacLeod stopped the next two Husky attempts, but Kyrkkö held the Buckeyes scoreless on their three attempts to give the Huskies the extra league point.
