Ohio States Earns Win Against Greenville in Season Opener

The Buckeyes outscored Greenville 395.000-387.350 on Saturday inside the Covelli Center.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men's gymnastics team (1-0) defeated Greenville (0-1) in the 2024 season opener on Saturday inside the Covelli Center.
Kristian Grahovski earned a win on pommel horse with a score of 13.100. Donovan Hewitt followed with a win on rings (13.950). Caden Spencer won the parallel bars competition with a career-best 14.250, sticking his dismount, and followed that up with a high bar win (14.350).
How it Happened
Floor
Ohio State held a 65.200-62.500 lead after one rotation. Kameron Nelson led the Buckeyes with a 13.400 to finish third, followed closely by Justin Ciccone's 13.250 and Kazuki Hayashi's 13.200. Zach Snyder (12.900) and Grahovski (12.450) both made their floor debuts.
Pommel Horse
The Buckeyes led 126.650-123.800 after two rotations and scoring 61.450 as a team on pommel horse. Grahovski led the competition with a 13.100, while Parker Thackston finished third overall (12.800). Tyler Rockwood earned a 12.700, Jesse Pakele had an 11.550 and Chase Davenport-Mills made his debut with an 11.300.
Rings
Ohio State had the four-highest scores on rings to earn a higher team score (68.100) than any meet last season and extend its lead to 194.750-187.400. Hewitt earned the win with a score of 13.950, followed by career-best scores from Nelson (13.900), Rockwood (13.750) and Arthur Ashton (13.550). Ciccone stuck his dismount to earn a 12.950.
Vault
The Buckeyes held a 264.900-258.350 lead after four rotations and a 70.150 team score on vault. Ciccone (14.550, stick) and Snyder (14.500) led the Buckeyes in their debuts, finishing second and third, respectively. Hayashi (14.100), Nelson (13.600) and Hewitt (13.400) rounded out the Buckeyes' lineup.
Parallel Bars
OSU's 65.250 on parallel bars gave the Buckeyes a 330.150-324.600 lead with one rotation to go. Spencer earned the win with his career-best 14.250. Also part of the Buckeyes' lineup was Thackston, making his p-bars debut with a 13.300 and Rockwood (12.900), Drake Andrews (12.450) and Christian Bartolini (12.350).
High Bar
Ohio State swept the podium in the high bar competition, also amassing a 64.850 team score. Spencer's 14.350 was just 0.050 shy of his career-best to earn his second win of the day. Thackston (13.300) and Davenport-Mills (13.250) wrapped up the podium finishes, while Hayashi (12.450) and Grahovski (11.500) also competed.
