Hannah Church goes 2-for-2 with a two-run home run
COLUMBUS, Ohio – On the eve of the 22nd Ohio Collegiate Charity Classic, Ohio State held its final intrasquad scrimmage of the fall. Aided by a two-run home run by Hannah Church, the Gray team defeated the Scarlet squad, 3-0.
It was a big night for the sophomore from Tampa, as she figured in all three of her teams runs. Church worked a leadoff walk in the top of the second inning and later scored on Skylar Limon's RBI single. In the fifth inning, her two-run home run – which went to straightaway center field – made the score 3-0. Church finished 2-for-2 on the night with two RBI, a run scored and a walk.
Winning pitcher Allison Smith went four innings and gave up just two hits while striking out three. Sophomore Lexi Paulsen finished the final three innings and surrendered just one hit while striking out three. On the other side, Emily Ruck started for the Scarlet team before Kennedy Kay saw two innings of action out of the bullpen.
The Ohio Collegiate Charity Classic begins tomorrow with five games at Buckeye Field beginning at 10 a.m. Ohio State will play once on the day, at 12:15 vs. Tiffin. Admission is a $5 donation which will support cancer research at the OSUCCC-James.
