COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State (0-1-1) fell in the final match of the 2023 Wolstein Classic Sunday to UC Davis (2-0-0) at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
The Aggies claimed the event title with CSU (0-0-2) taking second. Ohio State (0-1-1) claimed third by goal differential over Dayton (0-1-1). The Flyers scored twice while giving up four goals while the Buckeyes scored twice while giving up three.

How it Happened
Tanner Creech got the Buckeyes on the board first with a goal in the 2' on a rebound after a shot off the foot of Parker Grinstead was saved. It was the second career goal for Creech and first of 2023.

The Aggies did not waste any time in getting the equalizer with a goal on a header by Tristan Wouters in the fifth minute.
UC Davis took a 2-1 lead on a goal by Cason Goodman in the 26' and maintained the edge the rest of the match.

Peter Van Euwen, a redshirt junior from Avon Lake, Ohio, made his first appearance in goal for the Buckeyes. Â

This is the 17th year of the Wolstein Classic in Columbus. Ohio State is 17-9-8 all-time in the event.

Earlier Sunday, Dayton and CSUN tied 2-all.
Following the tie vs. CSUN in the Wolstein Classic opener for the Buckeyes, Ohio State had a nonconference record of 9-0-5 dating back to the 2021 season. The loss to the Aggies was the first nonconference loss for Ohio State in the last 15 matches. Â Â

The Buckeyes take to the road for the first time Friday to take part in the IU Classic in Bloomington, Indiana. Ohio State will take on Seton Hall at 4 p.m. and then return to Columbus to face Washington (7 p.m.) Sept. 4 at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. The match against the Huskies also is part of the IU Classic.
