Softball Garners Six Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Accolades

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Six Ohio State softball players – Tegan Cortelletti, Taylor Heckman, Reagan Milliken, Meggie Otte, Lindsey Potter and Jaycee Ruberti – have earned Big Ten Distinguished Scholar honors for their exceptional work in the classroom during the 2022-23 academic year.
In order to qualify, student-athletes must have earned Academic All-Big Ten recognition in 2022-23, must have been enrolled full time at the institution for the entire previous academic year and earned a GPA of 3.70 or better during the previous academic year, excluding any summer grades.
Cortelletti, a three-time Distinguished Scholar, graduated in May with her bachelor's degree in criminology and criminal justice. The four other Buckeyes honored on Tuesday – Heckman, Milliken, Otte, Potter and Ruberti – earned the honor for the first time in their respective careers.
Like Cortelletti, Otte graduated in May and earned her degree in human development and family science. She shared the same major with Milliken, a rising junior, and Heckman, who will be a senior next season. Potter is studying sport industry while Ruberti is a graduate student in the sport management master's degree program.
The Buckeyes' five Distinguished Scholars caps off an impressive year in the classroom for the Scarlet and Gray, one that included 20 OSU Scholar-Athletes and 15 Academic All-Big Ten honorees. The 22 Scholar-Athletes represented 83 percent of Ohio State's total roster and its 13 Academic All-Big Ten awards was 79 percent of those eligible.
