The Short Story
Against Vandy, the Buckeyes dropped the doubles point but won four singles matches in straight sets for the victory. The Commodores took the first doubles match, with the second two going to a tiebreaker and the teams splitting the matches to give Vandy the 1-0 lead. In singles, Irina Cantos Siemers lost just one game to tie the match, followed by straight-set wins from Danielle Willson and Lucia Marzal for a 3-1 Ohio State lead. Vandy added a second point but Shelly Bereznyak closed out a straight set win to clinch the 4-2 team victory.
Quoting head coach Melissa Schaub
"I'm just really happy for our players. They have worked hard and it wasn't easy after dropping the doubles point today. We came out with confidence starting singles and were able to maintain that level throughout. We are excited to get a chance to compete again!"
