SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Neal Shipley is making the most of his first NCAA Championship as he has fired rounds of 70 and 68 to lead Ohio State through two rounds at the Grayhawk Golf Club.
Shipley's 68 on Saturday was tremendous, given the firm and breezy conditions. He was one of only five players to break par in the afternoon wave. The Pittsburgh, Pa., native made four birdies in his round and he is currently tied for fifth at 2-under par. Just 12 players in the 156-player field are under-par after two rounds.
As a team, the Buckeyes carded a round of 295 and slipped to 20th through 36 holes. The field will be trimmed to the low 15 teams following Sunday's round and the Buckeyes are currently just six back of three teams tied for that spot.
JonErik Alford played a steady round of 3-over 73 on Saturday and is currently tied for 84th at 7-over par. Maxwell Moldovan had an uncharacteristic round of 6-over 76 in round two and is 5-over through 36 holes.
Adam Wallin came in with a 78 and Jackson Chandler followed him with a 79.
The Buckeyes are paired with Oklahoma and Arkansas for the third round and will be in the first wave of the afternoon off the 10th tee. They will start at 2:42 p.m. ET.
