Buckeyes Widen Lead Through 2 Rounds of The Kepler

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State has widened its lead through two rounds of the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate following a second round of 5-under 279. The Buckeyes lead by nine shots heading into the final round.
The 5-udner 279 was the only under-par round in round two and it was the best score of the day by seven shots. The Buckeyes are looking for their second victory of the season and their first win at the Kepler since 2019.
JonErik Alford birdied three of his final four holes to lead the Buckeyes with a 3-under 68. He jumped up into the Top 10 and is tied for eighth at 1-over par.
Adam Wallin and Jackson Chandler are each tied for fourth at 1-under par for the tournament. They are just three shots back of Kent State’s Chris Vandette and he and Wallin will be paired together in the final round. Neal Shipley matched his opening round 71 with another one in round two and is tied for sixth at even par.
Maxwell Moldovan made three-consecutive threes to cap his second round, birdying No. 16 and 18, to post a 2-under 69. He is tied for 13th and is knocking on the door of his eighth Top-10 of the season.
Topher Reed leads the B Team at 3-over par following rounds of 73-72. The B team is currently in fourth place in the 17-team field.
Tyler Groomes is just a shot behind Reed at 4-over as he posted a 75 in the second round. Patrick Schmucking and Jacob Tarkany are each at 6-over par. Schmucking had a 71 in the second round and Tarkany carded a 72 as each made three birdies.
Joe Wilson IV made four birdies in his second round 73 and he’s at 7-over par for the tournament. Drew Mulcahy is a shot further back at 8-over par as he also posted a 73 in the second round.
The Buckeyes are paired with Kent State and Norther Illinois in the final round and will likely start at 10:20 a.m. Sunday morning. The B Team will be in the first wave off Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m.
