
Alford Leads Buckeyes on Day 1 of Calusa Cup

COLUMBUS, Ohio – In the exclusive nine-team field that makes up the Calusa Cup, Ohio State opened with a round of even-par 288 and is in third place after the first round. The field this week features eight of the Top 50 teams in the Golfstat rankings, including four of the Top 5.
The scoring average for the day was 74.67 and all four Buckeye scorers on Sunday were under the field average.
JonErik Alford played his final 13 holes at 4-under par to post a 2-under 70 to pace the team. He is in sixth place and just two shots off the lead.
Maxwell Moldovan made three birdies in his round of 1-under 71 and is a shot behind Alford. This was his seventh consecutive round at par or better.
Jackson made a team-high five birdies on Sunday and finished with a 1-over 73. Neal Shipley closed with three birdies in his final five holes to post a 72 and Adam Wallin came home with a 7-over 79.
Wake Forest leads the way through the first round at 7-under par. North Carolina is second at 4-under and then the Buckeyes are in third at even-par. The three are paired together for the second round and will start at 1:30 p.m.
