Wallin Posts Top 10, Buckeyes Finish 8th at Colleton River

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State junior Adam Wallin flirted with defending his title at the Colleton River Collegiate, ultimately finishing tied for eighth at 8-under par. As a team, the Buckeyes also finished eighth after a third under-par round on Tuesday of 5-under 283.
Wallin was three-under par in his round after a birdie at his 10th hole and was one shot off the lead. For the third-consecutive round, he ended up making five birdies and would finish with a 1-under 71. This was his second tournament this season with three under-par rounds and the eighth place finish his fourth Top 20 of the year.
JonErik Alford posted one of just four bogey-free rounds on Tuesday as he carded a final round of 2-under 70. The final round scoring average was the highest of the three rounds. He opened the day with 13 consecutive pars before making two birdies in the final five holes. Alford finished in a tie for 30th at a career-best 4-under par.
Maxwell Moldovan made 15 pars in his round of 73 on Tuesday and finished the tournament tied for second with 40 total pars. He was 2-under par of the 54 holes and has finished under-par in five of the six events this year.
Neal Shipley made two birdies and an eagle on Tuesday as he played the final 14-holes at 3-under to post a final round 70. It was his second 70 in the event and he finished tied for 34th at 3-under par.
Patrick Schmucking, who played as an individual this week, capped his tournament with three birdies in the final nine holes, posting a 76.
The Buckeyes will head back to St. Simons Island, Ga., and compete next week in the Sea Island Invitational at the Seaside Golf Club. The two-day event runs March 13 and 14.
