
Buckeyes Under Par on Day 1 of Puerto Rico Classic

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State opened the spring portion of the season with a round of 1-under 287 on Sunday at the Puerto Rico Classic at the Grand Reserve Golf Club.
Jackson Chandler and Neal Shipley led the team as each shot a 1-under 71. Chandler made a team-high tying four birdies while Shipley played the most consistent round with two birdies and just one bogey. They are both tied for 19th.
Maxwell Moldovan also made four birdies in his round of even-par 72. Adam Wallin was just a shot back with a 1-over 71.
Freshman Tyler Groomes is playing as one of the scoring-five for the time this week. He opened with 78. Jacob Tarkany is playing as an individual this week and posted a 3-over 75.
The Buckeyes are in eighth place through the opening round. They are paired with Tennessee and Purdue in the second round which begins with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
