Ohio State Falls on Road to Michigan 69-60

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The No. 17/13 Ohio State Buckeyes (10-3, 1-1 B1G) fell to -/RV Michigan (11-3, 2-0 B1G) on Saturday afternoon in the Crisler Center by a 69-60 margin.
Michigan got off to a quick start, but Taylor Thierry scored the final seven points of the quarter to get Ohio State within one, trailing 12-11 after 10 minutes. The Buckeyes regained the lead at the start of the second quarter, but the Wolverines held the 27-26 advantage at halftime. Ohio State trailed by as many as nine points in the third quarter before using a 13-0 run to take a 45-42 lead into the fourth quarter. Michigan used a 9-0 run midway through the fourth quarter to take a lead that would not be relinquished.
Celeste Taylor used 10 points in the second quarter to become the first in the game to reach double figures and finished with 16 points. Taylor Thierry (15) and Rikki Harris (10) also reached double figures. Thierry led the game with nine rebounds.
How it Happened
Taylor opened scoring with a steal and score, but Michigan scored the next seven to lead 7-2 midway through the quarter. The Wolverines led by as much as 12-4 with three minutes remaining but Thierry scored the final seven points of the quarter to get the Buckeyes within one at 12-11.
Ohio State scored the first six points of the second quarter to take a 17-12 lead with under eight minutes in the half. Michigan took the lead back with an extended 8-1 run at 22-20 with 3:25 remaining but Taylor responded with a triple on the following possession. The teams traded baskets and the lead to wrap up the half with the Wolverines ahead 27-26.
Michigan scored the first four points of the third quarter to extend its lead to 31-26 with seven minutes remaining in the quarter. Ohio State trailed by as many as nine points but cut its deficit to 37-33 at the media timeout with 4:18 to play in the third. The Buckeyes used a 13-0 run over nearly four minutes to take a 41-37 lead after a three-point play from Rikki Harris. Ohio State led 45-42 after three quarters.
The Wolverines tied the game with a triple to start the fourth quarter and used back-to-back baskets to take a 51-48 lead with 6:46 to play, forcing an OSU timeout. Rebeka Mikulášiková tied the game at 51 with a three-pointer but Michigan responded with a 7-0 run to lead 58-51 midway through the quarter. The Wolverines called timeout with two minutes to play and a 62-53 lead. Michigan closed the game at the free throw line, wrapping scoring at 69-60.
