COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 20/18 Ohio State women's basketball team (10-3, 1-1 B1G) travels to Northwestern (6-8, 1-2 B1G) on Friday for an 8 p.m. ET tip. The game will be broadcast on B1G+ and 1460AM.
- Ohio State holds a 10-3 this season and is 1-1 in conference play after losing 69-60 at Michigan to close 2023. The Buckeyes couldn't hold off a strong fourth quarter from the Wolverines in a game that featured 11 lead changes.
- Celeste Taylor's season-high 16 points led OSU, along with Taylor Thierry's near double-double (15 points, nine rebounds) and Rikki Harris also reaching double figures with 10 points.
- Northwestern enters Friday with a 6-8 record this season and is 1-2 in conference play after falling on the road to Penn State by a 95-55 margin on Tuesday.
- The Wildcats beat Rutgers 77-70 to close the 2023 slate and fell 71-58 at Maryland in the Big Ten opener on Dec. 10. Northwestern also holds wins over UIC, Omaha, SEMO, Bradley and Temple and is 0-2 against ranked opponents, losing to Notre Dame and Florida State.
- Melannie Daley leads a trio of Wildcats in double figures, averaging 13.4 ppg this season. Caileigh Walsh leads Northwestern on the boards with 5.8 rpg and is second in scoring with 12.9 ppg. This duo is averaging 15.3 ppg apiece in B1G play.
- Ohio State leads 47-21 in the all-time series against Northwestern and has the 20-13 advantage when facing the Wildcats in Evanston.
- The Buckeyes won both meetings last season, earning an 81-48 road win on Dec. 28, 2022 and an 84-54 home win on Jan. 19. Last season was the first time since the 2016-17 season that the teams played twice.
