
Ohio State Earns 145-Point Win Over Akron

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 5 Ohio State women's swimming and diving team improved to 2-0 on the season after defeating Akron by 145 points, 222.5-77.5, on Friday night at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion.
Gwen Woodbury won both distance events of the night. She started out with a first-place finish in the 1000 free with a time of 9:55.95 and capped her night with a victory in the 500 free with a time of 4:55.49.
Amy Fulmer also turned in two individual victories, winning both the 100 and 200 free. She touched the wall at 49.20 in the 100 free, which is an NCAA B standard time, and at 1:47.93 in the 200 free.
Lena Hentschel, the reigning Big Ten Diver of the Week, continued to dominate on the boards, winning both the 1-meter (358.05) and the 3-meter (365.85). Both are NCAA Zones qualifying scores.
On the 1-meter, Janie Boyle (283.65) also recorded an NCAA Zones qualifying score and, on the 3-meter, Boyle (320.10) and Michelle Mazzara (284.40) turned in NCAA Zones qualifying scores.
Hannah Bach earned her first individual win of the season in the 100 breast with a time of 1:02.17.
First place in the 200 fly went to Jessica Eden, who finished in a time of 2:00.55.
Katherine Zenick was the winner of the 50 free, finishing in 22.93.
Krista Marlin recorded her first victory as a Buckeye, winning the 200 back with a time of 1:59.99.
Reese Dehen placed first in the 200 breast, finishing in 2:18.03.
Reigning Big Ten Swimmer of the Week Josephine Panitz placed first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:03.12.
The Buckeyes opened the night with a victory in the 200 medley relay with the team of Tristan Harrison, Panitz, Zenick and Teresa Ivan finishing in 1:39.04. They closed the night with another relay win, with the team of Harrison, Fulmer, Ivan and Zenick swimming the 400 free relay in 3:20.59.
