
Marlin Named Big Ten Freshman of the Week

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Krista Marlin has been named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week, announced by the conference on Wednesday. It is the first Big Ten weekly honor of Marlin's career.
Marlin had a phenomenal week as the Buckeyes earned a first-place finish at the Ohio State Fall Invitational. Over the course of the week, she recorded two Olympic Trials qualifying times and set one program record.
On day one of the invite, Marlin swam an Olympic Trials qualifying time of 2:15.31 in the 200 IM during long-course prelims. At finals, Marlin placed seventh in the A final of the 200 IM with an NCAA B cut time of 1:59.49.
Marlin placed second in the 400 IM on day two of the invite, touching the wall at 4:09.82, which is an NCAA B standard time. She was also on the 800 free relay team that turned in a provisional time of 7:05.61 and placed second.
The third day was Marlin's strongest, as she had an exciting prelims session to kick things off. Marlin set a 200 back long-course record with a speedy time of 2:10.49, which is also an Olympic Trials qualifying time, during prelims. She went on to win the 200 back in finals, finishing in an NCAA B cut time of 1:52.49.
