As a team ...Â
- The Ohio State men's hockey team hosts Princeton in a two-game non-conference series this weekend.Â
- The teams will meet at 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday in Value City Arena in Columbus. The games will be streamed through Big Ten Plus and live stats will be available.
- Â It is Fan Appreciation Weekend. There will be a gift card giveaway every media timeout and Nike gear drops at intermission. Saturday there is a meet and greet with select players postgame.Â

- Parking is free for all men's hockey games in Value City Arena.
- Ohio State is 3-5-3 on the year and coming off an open weekend. The Buckeyes last played at Notre Dame Nov. 10-11, with two losses. Princeton enters the series 3-2-1 and was 1-1 at home last weekend, with a loss to Colgate and overtime win vs. Cornell.
- Ohio State and Princeton have met four times, with the first four at a neutral site. The last game was in 2018 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, a 4-2 Buckeye win.Â
- Through nine games, 19 Buckeyes have gotten on the scoresheet, including 15 goal scorers.Â
- This is the final two-game nonconference series in Columbus for Ohio State this season. The squad will host Mercyhurst Dec. 30 and take on Bowling Green in a home-and-home series Jan. 5-6.Â
- Eleven players returned from last year's Buckeye squad that reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament, was 21-16-3 on the year and advanced to the Big Ten Tournament semifinals after finishing third in the regular season standings.
- Ohio State has added 15 newcomers to the roster for 2023-24. The group, with six forwards, seven defensemen and two goalies, includes eight freshmen and seven transfers (two graduate students). The new Buckeyes hail from 11 states in the US and two Canadian provinces, along with a native of Sweden.Â
- Defenseman Scooter Brickey, a fifth-year senior and captain for the Buckeyes, is leading the squad with four goals this season.Â
- In game two vs. Michigan State Nov. 4, Brickey recorded his first career two-goal game, with one on the power play.Â
- Brickey also leads the Buckeyes with 17 shot blocks, followed by Damien Carfagna and Brent Johnson with 14 each.Â
- Johnson is tied for second on the team with three goals this season.
- Blueliners Theo Wallberg, Damien Carfagna and Mason Klee have also found the back of the net this season, as has defenseman John Larkin (playing as a forward the game he scored).
Buckeyes vs. Tigers
- Ohio State has faced Princeton four times. This game is the first on home ice for either team.
- The squads first met in Cleveland, Ohio, in the Cleveland Cup Holiday Festival Dec. 22, 1971, a 3-2 Buckeye win in overtime.
- Dec. 28, 1986, Ohio State posted a 6-5 win vs. the Tigers in the Schweppes Invitational in Cincinnati, Ohio.Â
- The teams faced off in Mellon Arena in Pittsburgh Jan. 3, 2003, with Ohio State prevailing, 4-1.Â
- The last matchup was in the NCAA Midwest Regional semifinal in Allentown, Pa., March 24, 2018, with the Buckeyes advancing with a 4-2 win.Â
- Princeton is a member of the ECAC and the only league member on the Buckeye schedule this year.Â

- Ohio State is 6-for-46 (.130) on the power play this season. After starting the year with a power play goal in four of the first five games, the squad has a power play goal in just one of the last six games.
- The Buckeye penalty kill is 28-for-36 (.778) so far this year.
- The Scarlet and Gray are averaging 35.36 shots a night, giving up 33.73. The squad was second nationally in shots on goal a game (36.3) in 2022-23.
- Ohio State is averaging 2.18 goals per game on the year and has been held to two or fewer tallies in seven of the last nine outings.
- Fifteen Buckeyes have scored a least one goal this season. Among the scorers are freshmen Theo Wallberg, Thomas Weis and Ryan Gordon, as well as sophomore John Larkin who notched his first collegiate tally at Omaha. Transfers Brent Johnson, Jake Dunlap, Mason Klee, Damien Carfagna and Caden Brown have also all found the back of the net.Â
- Stephen Halliday, the Buckeyes' leading scorer a season ago as a freshman, is tied with Wallberg for first on the squad with seven assists and eight points this year.
- The squad's power play goals have come from four players - Wallberg, Brickey (twice), Brent Johnson and Patrick Guzzo (twice). Guzzo's first power play score was the first of his career, to go with three shorthanded tallies. Dalton Messina notched the Buckeyes' first shorthanded goal this year at Omaha.Â
- Three Buckeyes have seen action in more than 100 collegiate games - Riley Hughes (123), Scooter Brickey (110) and Guzzo (108). Klee (99) and Michael Gildon (94) are approaching the 100-games played mark.Â
- Ohio State will travel for two games at No. 6 Wisconsin next weekend. Puck drop is set for 8 p.m. ET Dec. 1 and 9 p.m. ET Dec. 2, with both games streamed through Big Ten Plus and on Ohio State Radio.
- The first part of the schedule wraps up at home vs. No. 8 Minnesota. The teams will meet at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 8 and at 8 p.m. Dec. 9 in Value City Arena. BTN will televise the matchups and the call will be on Ohio State Radio.   Â
