Box Score |Â Season Stats
 Â
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State had its two-match winning streak snapped on the road against the Maryland Terrapins in three sets (23-25, 18-25, 23-25). The result leaves Ohio State with a 10-15 overall record and a 7-9 mark in the Big Ten Conference. Maryland improves its records to 16-12 overall and 6-10 in the Big Ten.
Â
Maryland produced a .288 hitting pct. for the match while Ohio State hit .197. Most of the other team stats were fairly even: Maryland led in kills, 42-41, in assists, 40-39 and had eight fewer attack errors with 10 compared to Ohio State's 18. The Buckeyes led in service aces, 8-6.
Â
Individually, Emily Londot had a match-high 17 kills with Zaria Ragler second among Buckeyes with nine. Mia Tuman's 36 assists were one off her season high in a three-set match (37 vs. Iowa). Tuman, Sarah Sue Morbitzer and Anna McClure each had 10+ digs.
  Â
How it HappenedÂ
Ohio State scored the first four points of the match and then led for most of the first set with additional four-point leads of 8-4 and 16-12. The team's last four-point lead was courtesy of a service ace by Zaria Ragler. Maryland forged its way back into contention, and finally tied the match at 18 on a Samantha Schnitta kill. The Terrapins' eventual 6-0 scoring run produced a 20-18 lead. Maryland stayed in front by at least one until an Emily Londot service ace tied the score at 23. The Terrapins took the final two points, though, and the first set, 25-23. Ohio State hit .256 as Londot paced the Buckeyes with six kills and Mia Tuman had 12 assists.
Â
A tense and close second set ensued with Maryland ultimately winning it, 25-18, to take a 2-sets-to-none lead in the contest. The set featured 31 ties or lead changes through the first 36 points with neither team leading by more than two points at any point, until Maryland made a set-clinching run of scoring the final seven points after the game was tied at 18.
Â
The third set was much the same as the second. There were 20 ties or lead changes through the first 34 points that saw the two teams knotted at 17. Only once, at 17-14 Ohio State, did either team have more than a two-point advantage. At that point, Ohio State asserted some dominance to go up by four twice – at 21-17 and 22-18 – with each of these largest Buckeye leads in the match accentuated by Londot kills. The Terrapins fought back, just like in the second set, with five consecutive points to take a 23-22 lead. A kill by Ragler tied the score at 23, but the Terrapins followed with consecutive points on a kill and a service ace to win the third set and the match. Set stats included Ohio State hitting .300 compared to .286 for Maryland and the Buckeyes also leading in kills, 18-13.  Â
