Ohio State Posts 100 in 50-Point Victory Against IUPUI

Every Buckeye player who saw the court scored points, including six double-figure scorers.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 7/6 Ohio State Buckeyes (1-1) earned a 108-58 victory against IUPUI (1-1) on Sunday afternoon in the 2023-24 home opener.
Ohio State used a 9-0 run early in the first quarter to take a 24-16 lead after 10 minutes. The Buckeyes used runs of 13 and 14 unanswered points in the second quarter to take a 59-31 lead into the locker room. OSU used a 25-14 third quarter to extend its lead to 84-45 after three quarters. A 24-13 fourth quarter that favored the Buckeyes gave OSU the 108-58 victory.
Cotie McMahon was the first in the game to reach double figures and finished with 22 points, the 15th game of her career scoring at least 20 points. Taylor Thierry had 12 first-half points to reach double figures in the second consecutive game. All five Buckeye starters reached double figures in the third quarter as Jacy Sheldon (11), Rebeka Mikulášiková (10) and Celeste Taylor (11) all scored 10+. Taiyier Parks scored in double figures (12) for her first time as a Buckeye.
How it Happened
McMahon opened scoring by getting to the free throw line on the opening possession. Mikulášiková had the game's first triple and a 9-0 OSU run gave the Buckeyes a 13-2 lead with 6:23 remaining in the first quarter. IUPUI cut its deficit to five at 17-12 with 3:27 to play in the quarter. Ohio State closed the quarter with a 24-16 advantage.
After IUPUI scored the first basket of the second quarter, the Buckeyes strung together 14 unanswered points in just two and a half minutes to extend their lead to 38-18 with seven minutes remaining in the first half. Ohio State used another run of 13-0 late in the quarter to extend the lead to 57-29 and held the 59-31 advantage going into the locker room.
The Buckeyes held a 65-35 lead after two minutes of play in the third quarter before an 11-0 run to extend that lead to 76-35 with 5:40 remaining in the quarter. The teams traded points to wrap up the third quarter with Ohio State in front by an 84-45 margin.
Ohio State scored the first 13 points of the fourth quarter to build the lead to 98-45 midway through the quarter. Every Buckeye that entered the game scored as OSU wrapped up a 108-58 win.
Highlights
