COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 13/10 Ohio State women's basketball team (1-1) hosts Boston College (2-1) on Thursday night for a 7 p.m. tip on faculty/staff appreciation night. The game will be broadcast live on B1G+.
- Ohio State owns a 1-1 record on the season after falling in the season opener to then No. 21/21 USC at the Hall of Fame Series in Las Vegas and earning a 50-point win (108-58) against IUPUI in the home opener on Sunday.
- Against IUPUI, all 13 Buckeyes who played also scored points as six of those were in double figures. OSU forced 28 turnovers and had 11 steals as the Buckeyes scored 20+ in all four quarters, led by Cotie McMahon's 22 points.
- Jacy Sheldon and reigning Big Ten Freshman of the Year McMahon were both named to the Big Ten's Preseason Team as the Buckeyes were picked to finish second by the coaches and third by the media. Sheldon, McMahon and transfer Celeste Taylor all earned preseason honors outside of the Big Ten, including individual position award watch lists and the watch lists for the Naismith Trophy and Wooden Award.
- Boston College holds a 2-1 record this season with all three games being played at home. The Eagles beat Holy Cross by a 66-61 mark in the season opener before falling 66-59 to Harvard last Thursday. BC bounced back to beat Northeastern 67-58 on Sunday. Boston College has forced 70 turnovers and recorded 35 steals through the first three games.
- Dontavia Waggoner leads a trio of players averaging double figures with 16.0 ppg, while Andrea Daley leads on the boards with 7.7 rpg.
- Ohio State leads the all-time series 8-3 against Boston College, earning an 82-64 win in last year's meeting on the road. Ohio State forced 36 Boston College turnovers and tallied 20 steals in the victory and had two players earn double-doubles. Rebeka Mikulášiková led all players with 23 points and added 10 rebounds, while Jacy Sheldon posted a career-high 11 steals and also had 14 points.
- This is the fifth all-time meeting in Columbus between Ohio State and Boston College, the first since Nov. 21, 2006, when OSU earned the 80-72 win in double overtime.
