"We fell a little short of qualifying on the team side for the women but I'm really proud of how we've handled adversity this season. Addie and D ran absolutely incredible races and I'm excited to see how they perform on the national stage next week."
All-Region Buckeyes
Addie Engel and Daniella Santos finished second and seventh, respectively, to earn All-Great Lakes Region honors, which are awarded to the Top 25 finishers in each region by the USTFCCCA. Engel and Santos finished in the same spots in the 2022 regionals and Engel was third at the 2021 race.
Engel is the second Buckeye and first since Michelle Thomas in 2012-14 to earn three All-Great Lakes Region accolades. Santos is the seventh Buckeye to earn all-region honors at least twice. Ohio State has compiled 19 all-region honors since 2011.
The Buckeye Women
Addie Engel crossed the finish line of the 6K second in 20:07.4, 12.3 seconds behind the race champion from Notre Dame, and Santos was seventh in 20:29.8. Akemi Von Scherr and Andrea Kuhn were third and fourth for the Buckeyes in 21:16.8 and 21:33.5, respectively. Ana Karmol ran a personal best 22.00.0 to complete the Buckeye counters, 26.2 seconds faster than her previous PR. Gia Napoleon and Audrey DeSantis closed out the Buckeye lineup.
The women placed fifth as a team, the sixth time Ohio State was fifth or better at regionals (including the third time in the last four races).
Engel notched her 12th career Top 2 finish (her sixth this season) and has been in the Top 16 in 20 of her last 21 races, with the lone exception when she ran as an individual at the 2021 NCAA Championships.
The Buckeye Men
