How it Happened
The Buckeyes used the wind in the opening half and dominated possession. After a number of quality chances, they were finally rewarded in the 36th minute as senior captain Peyton McNamara played a beautiful left-footed volley off a deflection to record her first goal of the season.
On a rare attack, Penn State evened the match late in the opening half and the teams headed to the locker room tied at 1-1.
In the second half, it was Penn State's turn with the wind, but the Buckeyes continued on the attack. They again created a number of quality opportunities but just didn't find the net. Penn State pushed forward late and earned a corner kick with three minutes to play. Off that corner, the Lady Lions headed-home a goal with 2:15 to play and stole a 2-1 victory.
Up Next
The Buckeyes will remain on the road for a pair of matches next week. They are at Minnesota on Thursday evening and then at Wisconsin next Sunday afternoon.
