COLUMBUS, Ohio – Led by the two lowest individual final round scores, Ohio State carded an 11-uner 277 on Tuesday in the final round of the Hamptons Invitational at the Maidstone Club. That was the lowest round of the day by five shots, and it vaulted the Buckeyes into a runner-up finish.
The team finished at 21-under par and held the lead at one point on the final nine. But Alabama was able to make a couple of closing birdies and nipped the Buckeyes by two shots. Ohio State led the field with 63 total birdies over the 54 holes and Neal Shipley was second in the field with 18 birdies.
Maxwell Moldovan fired a bogey-free final round 66 to finish fourth at 8-under par. That was the lowest final round of anyone in the 66-player field.
