
Two Outdoor Records Headline Strong Saturday

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State track and field team had strong performances at the Gamecock Invitational and the Cherry Blossom Invitational on Saturday.
The Buckeye women earned the first victory of the meet in the 4x100m relay by setting a new school record. Yanique Dayle, Anavia Battle, Nya Bussey and Leah Bertrand finished in just 43.17. Eric Harrison earned his third win of the outdoor season in the 100m (10.27) and also won the 200m (20.49). Battle won the women’s 100m (11.17) and 200m (22.42) in her outdoor debut. Ohio State wrapped up the meet with a win in the women’s 4x400m relay (3:30.25) and Jaydan Wood, Chanler Robinson, Alyssa Marsh and Bryannia Murphy making up the winning relay.
Alexus Pyles won the women’s long jump (5.96m), while Luke Bendick won the men’s pole vault (5.15m) in his outdoor debut. Shaun Miller, Jr. won the men’s high jump competition by clearing 2.15m. In the triple jump, Jaimie Robinson claimed the women’s triple jump, clearing 13.04m. Clarence Foote Talley won the men’s side with a 15.64m. Adelaide Aquilla earned her second victory of the outdoor season in the shot put (17.53m). Carlos Aviles earned the victory in the men’s discus throw (56.14m).
- The Buckeye men had a total of five finish in the top-10 of the 200m. Following Harrison’s win, Zidane Brown was third (20.77), Armani Modeste was fifth (20.78), Tyler Johnson was seventh (20.88) and Olatoke was 10th (21.05).
- The Buckeye women also had five of the top-10 runners in the 200m. Behind Battle’s win, Dayle finished third (23.25), Bussey finished fourth (23.54), Jaydan Wood finished eighth (23.97) and Bertrand finished ninth (24.03).
- Ohio State finished second through fourth in the men’s 400m with Brown as the runner-up (46.42), Modeste in third (46.49) and Donnie James in fourth (46.52). The Ohio State women finished in fourth and fifth with Bryannia Murphy (52.96) and Alyssa Marsh (53.06).
- In the 4x100m relay, the men’s squad (Trey Gardette, Tyler Johnson, Harrison and Praise Olatoke) finished second (39.17) in the fastest Ohio State time of the season.
- The Buckeye women had four qualify for the 100m hurdles finals as Morgan Lewis and Marcia Sey each had their fastest time of the season in the qualifiers. In the finals, Pyles was the runner-up (13.22), Lewis finished fourth (13.77), Cierra Pyles was fifth (13.84) and Sey rounded out the Buckeyes’ showing in sixth (14.00).
- Kentre Patterson and Oscar Smith both competed in the 110m hurdles finals, finishing second (13.92) and third (14.24), respectively. In the qualifying rounds, Smith was second (14.02) and Patterson was third (14.19).
- The Buckeye women had three more follow Battle in the top-six of the women’s 100m. Dayle was the runner-up (11.45), while Bussey finished third (11.57) and Bertrand finished sixth (11.76).
- All four Buckeye men finished in the top-seven in the shot put. Hayden Tobias led the way in second with the best OSU men’s throw of the season (18.85m). Aviles was third (18.78m), while Joshua Miller finished sixth (16.42m) and Adam Riedinger was seventh (16.34m).
- Ohio State had three more in the top-eight of the men’s discus throw behind Aviles. Tanner Watson was the runner-up (55.64m), while Tobias finished seventh (48.00m) and Evan Johnson finished eighth (47.82m).
- Jaimie Robinson finished third in the women’s long jump (5.75m). The Buckeye men also had both competitors finish in the top-five with Joshua Miller in fourth (54.23m) and Evan Johnson in fifth (50.59m).
- Adelaide Aquilla finished as the runner-up in the women’s discus throw (52.33m), while Amaya Ugarte did the same in the women’s high jump (1.75m).
- In the pole vault, Abigail Kuhn finished third by clearing 4.15m for a new OSU women’s outdoor record. AnneMarie Moses finished fifth by clearing 3.70m. On the men’s side, Reo Ogundare finished fourth (4.95m).
- In the 400m hurdles, Smith finished sixth (53.44) with the fastest OSU men’s time of the season. The women had both finish in the top-five with Robinson in fourth (59.34) and Mabinty Kebe in fifth (1:00.11).
- Pyles finished second (12.36) overall in the women’s triple jump.
- Lacey Stringer finished fourth in the shot put (14.00m) and fifth in the hammer throw (50.15m).
Cherry Blossom Invitational:
- The Buckeye women captured the top-four spots in the 800m. Aziza Ayoub was the winner (2:05.69) with Mary Figler finishing as the runner-up (2:07.47), Mallory Mulzer in third (2:09.14) and Gia Napoleon in fourth (2:12.05). Carina Napoleon finished eighth overall (2:18.33).
- The Ohio State men had five of the fastest six times in the 800m with Nick Miller (1:49.61) earning his first win of the season. Alex Kenish (1:51.08), Cameron Cooper (1:52.68), Ivan Slyepkan (1:52.76) and Tyrese Fajardo (1:53.24) finished third through sixth, respectively.
- David Palmer won his second 400m hurdles competition of the season (53.66).
- The Buckeyes won the women’s (3:47.31) and men’s (3:17.29) 4x400m relay.
- Amir Metts finished fourth overall (49.45) in the men’s 400m.
- Napoleon finished sixth (4:44.69) in the women’s 1500m.

The Buckeyes host the Jesse Owens Invitational on Friday and Saturday at the Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. Action begins on Friday at 1 p.m. with field events and 4:30 p.m. for track events.
