COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State heads west on I70 to play in-state foe Dayton on Tuesday evening. The game will be played at Day-Air Ballpark, home of the Dayton Dragons, the High-A minor league affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. and gates will open for the fans at 6 p.m. ESPN+ will stream the game online and Matt Andrews and Bob Spears will have the radio call locally on ESPN 1460 AM and on OhioStateBuckeyes.com.
The Opponent

- Senior co-captain Griffan Smith seems to have returned to form. He had made just three appearances, working no more than one inning in any appearance, prior to his outing Sunday in game two vs. Michigan State. The Cincinnati, Ohio native went 5.1 innings Sunday, allowing two runs on five hits and striking out four to earn his first win of the season.
- Out of the pen, freshman Jake Johnson bounced back from a pair of tough outings to throw a combined scoreless 2.0 innings in two games vs. Michigan State last weekend. He has 24 strikeouts in 21.2 innings this season.
- As a staff, the Buckeye pitchers are 15th in the country in strikeouts per nine innings at 10.8.
