
Ohio State’s Six Wins Wrap Up Arizona State Baldy Castillo Invite

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State track and field team wrapped up its first outdoor meet of the season at the Arizona State Baldy Castillo Invite on Saturday.
Adelaide Aquilla earned her second win in as many days with a throw of 17.88m in the women’s shot put, breaking the meet record by .61m and the next competitor by 1.60m. Jaydan Wood also set a meet record with her win in the 400m (52.39), beating the field by nearly a full second and the former meet record by nearly a half second. Jaimie Robinson won the women’s triple jump with a mark of 13.38m to set a new meet record.
Eric Harrison won the men’s 100m (10.20). Aziza Ayoub earned the victory in the women’s 800m (2:07.09). The Ohio State men won the 4x100m relay in 39.21 with Harrison, Praise Olatoke, Trey Gardette and Zidane Brown on the winning squad.
- Robby Oswald was the runner-up in the men’s pole vault, clearing 5.20m.
- In the women’s 800m, the Buckeye women had three in the top-five with Mary Figler (2:07.64) as the runner-up and Mallory Mulzer (2:09.41) in fifth behind Ayoub’s win.
- The Ohio State men had two in the top-five of the shot put competition with Hayden Tobias as the runner-up (18.56m) and Carlos Aviles in fifth (18.11m).
- Kentre Patterson (13.74) and Oscar Smith (13.92) finished in third and fourth, respectively, in the finals of the men’s 110m hurdles.
- The Ohio State women had a third and fourth-place finish in the 400m hurdles with Chanler Robinson 58.88 and Mabinty Kebe placing. David Palmer finished eighth (55.20) on the men’s side.
- Nya Bussey led the Buckeyes in the women’s 100m with a runner-up finish (11.35). Yanique Dayle crossed the line right behind Bussey in third (11.36). Leah Bertrand finished ninth (11.68). On the men’s side, Gardette rounded out the top-10 (10.64).
- In the men’s 400m, the Buckeyes had four make the top-10, with Donnie James leading the way in second (46.29). Brown (46.69), Modeste (46.81) and Kashawn Baptiste (47.67) also made the top-10, finishing sixth, seventh and 10th, respectively.
- In the women’s 4x400m relay, Ayoub, Dayle, Figler and Mulzer were the runner-ups with a time of 3:33.61 while Bryannia Murphy, Wood, Bertrand and Alyssa Marsh were fifth (3:42.88). On the men’s side, Brown, Baptiste, James and Modeste were fourth (3:06.21), while Harrison, Tyrese Fajardo, Olatoke and Palmer were eighth (3:18.89).
- The Buckeye women had relay squads finish in third and seventh in the 4x100m relay. Anavia Battle, Bertrand, Bussey and Dayle finished third with a time of 44.10, while Britten Bowen, Morgan Lewis, Alexus Pyles and Robinson finished seventh (48.53). The OSU men’s B relay finished eighth overall (41.52) with Patterson, James, Smith and Armani Modeste taking part.
- Nick Miller led the men in the 1500m with a second-place finish (3:46.31). Nick Regas finished ninth (3:53.00).
- In the 100m hurdles finals, A. Pyles finished fourth (13.37), while Cierra Pyles came in seventh (13.85).
- Lacey Stringer notched a top-10 finish in the women’s shot put with a throw of 14.93m, good for ninth overall.
UP NEXT
Ohio State heads to North Carolina next week to compete at the Raleigh Relays, beginning Thursday and ending Saturday.
