
Aquilla Earns Ohio State’s First Win of the Outdoor Season at ASU

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State track and field team began the outdoor season at the Arizona State Baldy Castillo Invite on Friday. Adelaide Aquilla earned the first win of the outdoor season for the Buckeyes with a discus throw of 52.82m.
- In the women’s high jump, Amaya Ugarte cleared 1.75m on her third attempt to finish as the runner-up. Shaun Miller Jr. finished third in the men’s high jump, clearing 2.10m.
- The Ohio State men had three make the top-10 in the weight throw. Tanner Watson was the runner up (55.46m), while Carlos Aviles finished fifth (52.36m) and Hayden Tobias was ninth (48.23m).
- Nick Regas finished fourth overall in the men’s 3000m (8:14.03).
- The Buckeyes began the meet strong in the hammer throw with Lacey Stringer finishing sixth (53.22m) on the women’s side and Hayden Tobias rounding out the top-10 (50.81m) for the men’s competition.
- Yanique Dayle and Nya Bussey both finished in the top-10 in the women’s 200m with Dayle seventh (23.72) and Bussey ninth (23.74). On the men’s side, Praise Olatoke finished eighth overall (21.05).
- In the 100m hurdles, both Alexus and Cierra Pyles qualified for tomorrow’s finals by finishing in the top nine in the preliminary rounds. Alexus Pyles finished third (13.41) while Cierra Pyles finished ninth (13.95).
- The Buckeye men also had two qualify for tomorrow’s 110m hurdles final as Kentre Patterson had the second-fastest time (13.89) in the preliminary rounds and Oscar Smith was the sixth-fastest (14.12).
