
Women and Men Finish Second at Big Ten Indoor Championships

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State track and field team wrapped up competition at the 2022 Big Ten Indoor Championships in Geneva, Ohio on Saturday as both the women’s team and the men’s team finished second overall.
Avavia Battle broke the championship record (that she set in the prelims yesterday) with a win in the 200m (22.39), running the fourth-fastest women’s collegiate 200m time in history. Battle also won the women’s 60m (7.28) after having the fastest time in the prelims yesterday.
Tyler Johnson won the Big Ten Championship in the men’s 400m with the fastest time among the Ohio State men (45.31) this season. He also completed the Buckeyes’ sweep of the 200m with the fastest OSU men’s time of the season (20.73).
Jaimie Robinson won the women’s triple jump (13.02m). Leo Uusimaki won the heptathlon competition (5789), including wins in the 60m hurdles portion (8.17) and the pole vault (5.10m).
- The women’s 4x400m relay was the runner-up (3:34.54). Bryannia Murphy, Yanique Dayle, Battle and Jayden Wood ran the relay for the Buckeyes. The men’s relay also finished second (3:07.80) with Armani Modeste, Donnie James, Tyrese Fajardo and Zidane Brown comprising the team.
- Eric Harrison was the runner up in the men’s 200m (20.93), behind only Johnson.
- Uusimaki finished second in the 1000m portion (2:39.18) of the heptathlon.
- In the women’s 400m, Murphy earned a runner-up finish by running the fastest time among the OSU women this season (53.16) as the first to beat 54 seconds. On the men’s side, Armani Modeste finished eighth (46.81) with his season-best time.
- Amaya Ugarte finished third in the women’s high jump (1.78m) as Shaun Miller Jr. did the same for the men (2.17m) with the best jump among the Buckeye men this season.
- In the 800m, Nick Miller ran the second-fastest OSU men’s time (1:49.51) of the season to finish second and Aziza Ayoub ran the second-fastest Buckeye women’s time of the season (2:05.34) to finish third.
- Clarence Foote-Talley finished fourth in the men’s triple jump (15.54m) while Cierra Pyles rounded out a strong on the women’s side by finishing sixth (12.50m).
- The Buckeye men finished fourth and eighth in the 60m hurdles, with Oscar Smith (7.85) and Kentre Patterson (8.37) in the finals.
- In the men’s 60m, Harrison led the Buckeyes with a fourth-place finish (6.72) and Kainnen Ramsey finished seventh (6.78).
- Mary Figler finished fourth in the women’s 600m (1:29.11), while Tyrese Fajardo was eighth (1:18.52) on the men’s side.
- Following Battle in the women’s 200m was Dayle with a season-best time of 23.71 in fourth and Alyssa Marsh in eighth (24.11).
