COLUMBUS, Ohio – A dominant, 16-shot, nine-goal first quarter lifted the Ohio State women's lacrosse team to a season-opening, 17-5 victory over Robert Morris University Saturday afternoon on the indoor field at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center. An energetic crowd of 581 fans packed the stands along the north wall of the facility.
Coach Amy Bokker's third Ohio State team scored four goals in the first 3:33 with Chloe Johnson scoring the first of the season for Ohio State just 51 seconds in. Lindsay Epstein, Nicole Ferrara and Jamie Lasda all scored within the next 63 seconds and the Buckeyes were on their way.
"I think this game will build a lot of confidence," Bokker said. "That was a goal of ours … to come out in this first game and work through some things and get everyone to play as a unit. I thought they did a really good job, especially in the first quarter to have 16 shots. I told them in the locker room that I wanted them to come out and to control the pace and to come out firing. We set a really good tone early and that was great to build upon the rest of the game."
