COLUMBUS, Ohio – Sunday’s top-10 matchup between the No. 1 Ohio State women’s hockey team and No. 10 Cornell resulted in a 4-0 shutout victory for the Buckeyes. Ohio State (16-2-2, 13-2-1 WCHA) improves to 9-1-0 on the road this season with the series sweep of the Big Red (7-5-2, 5-2-1 ECAC).
How it Happened
- Ohio State was first on the board again, this time with Gabby Rosenthal giving Ohio State the 1-0 lead at 5:50 in the first period.
- The Buckeyes scored two more goals in the opening frame – the second goal from Jenna Buglioni at 9:19 and the third from Makenna Webster at 18:17 – to take a three-goal lead after 20:00.
- Ohio State goaltender Raygan Kirk faced just two shots in the first period, stopping both, and the Buckeyes offensive pursuit put 20 shots on net in the first.
- In the second period, Emerson Jarvis had a chance to extend the Buckeye lead nearly 10 minutes in after she skated her own rebound around the Cornell net and made an attempt to backdoor the Big Red’s goaltender Belle Mende. After video review, the goal was kept off the scoresheet.
- Hadley Hartmetz gave Ohio State its 4-0 lead at 14:35 in the second period. Her goal was the lone tally of the frame, during which the Buckeyes added 15 shots on goal and Kirk stopped all seven that came her way.
- The Buckeyes were kept scoreless in the third period, firing off another 13 shots on target. The Big Red were denied their three chances by Kirk and Ohio State finished with a 4-0 win.

- Riley Brengman’s two points in Sunday’s contest were her first since the Buckeyes’ 3-2 win over Minnesota Duluth on Oct. 22.
