
Four Event Wins Wrap Up South Carolina Challenge

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State track and field team wrapped up competition at the South Carolina Challenge on Saturday. The Buckeyes claimed four victories – two on the women’s side and two on the men’s side.
Anavia Battle won her third race of the season, running a 22.76 in the women’s 200m. Adelaide Aquilla remained undefeated in the women’s shot put (19.08m), once again defeating her closest competition by meters as the runner up’s best throw was for 16.08m. Daniel Drellishak claimed his first victory of the season in the men’s open pole vault (4.73m). Tyler Johnson captured the 400m title (46.27) after winning the 300m race last weekend.
- Eric Harrison Jr. followed up his runner-up finish in the 60m finals yesterday with a runner-up finish in the 200m finals today with a time of 21.16. Adrien Curry (21.77) and Armani Modeste (21.78) finished just outside the top 10.
- In the 4×400 relay, the Ohio State men finished second with a time of 3:09.91, while the Ohio State women finished third (3:39.35).
- Jamie Robinson was the runner up in the women’s triple jump (12.69m), just 0.02m behind the winner. Cierra Pyles finished fourth (12.31m) in the event.
- Robby Oswald was second in the men’s invite pole vault, clearing 5.05m.
- The Buckeye men came up big in the shot put finals, claiming third (Hayden Tobias, 18.11m) fourth (Carlos Aviles, 17.97m) and sixth (Adam Riedinger, 16.22m).
- Armani Modeste ran a 48.13 in the men’s 400m to finish fourth and join Johnson in a strong showing for the Buckeyes. On the women’s side, Mary Figler’s time of 55.32 was good for sixth place.
- Also finishing in the top 10 of the women’s 200m were Yanique Daniel in seventh (24.08) and Nya Bussey in ninth (24.41).
- Robinson took seventh in a close women’s long jump field (5.59m) as just 0.03m separated the fourth through seventh-place finishers.
- Aviles (18.50m) and Tobias (17.80m) finished sixth and seventh, respectively, in the men’s weight throw.
- Faith Hunter finished ninth in the women’s high jump by clearing 1.55m.
