
Buckeyes Post 292 in Opening Round of Marquette Intercollegiate

ERIN, Wisc. – Ohio State opened the 2021-22 season on Sunday at famed Erin Hills for the Marquette Intercollegiate and posted a team score of 292 (+4). That has them in a tie for 12th place after the opening round.
Individually, sophomore Maxwell Moldovan made three birdies in his round of 2-under 70 and is tied for 13th. Senior JonErik Alford, playing in his first event as a member of the scoring five since the Crooked Stick Invitational in 2019, opened with a round of even-par 72. He too made three birdies in the round.
Junior Patrick Schmucking birdied two of his final six holes to post a 2-over 74. Senior Grant Engle and freshman Jacob Tarkany each opened with a 76.
Three Buckeyes are also playing in the Washington Country Individual event at nearby Washington County Golf Club. Junior Jackson Chandler carded a bogey-free 6-under 66 with four birdies and an eagle. He is tied for second, just two shots off the lead. Marco Steyn, who is making his Buckeye debut, birdied three of his first four holes and finished with a 1-under 71. Adam Wallin carded a 1-over 73.
The second round of the Marquette Intercollegiate will start at 11:40 a.m. ET for the Buckeyes. Day two of the Washington Country Individual will start with an 8:30 a.m. ET shotgun start. Follow along with each event on Golfstat.com.
