The NCAA individual championships are being held this week at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla. Sophomore Irina Cantos Siemers won her first round match before falling to the No. 7 seed in the second round, while the duo of juniors Kolie Allen and Isabelle Boulais dropped its opening round match to the No. 2 seed.
Sunday (May 23)
Cantos Siemers posted a straight-set win in the round of 64, defeating Cameron Morra of North Carolina, 6-2, 6-3. The Buckeye won the final three games of the first set, including two breaks, to take a one-set lead. In the second, Cantos won four of the first five games for a 4-1 advantage. Morra, who was ranked 27th, won the next two to make it 4-3, but Cantos Siemers broke and held, winning on the no-ad point in the final game, to take the match.

Monday (May 24)
Cantos Siemers fell in the second round to No. 7 seed Abigail Forbes of ULCA. After the players traded breaks to start the match, Forbes won three games in a row for a 4-1 lead. Cantos Siemers won the next two for a 4-3 match, but Forbes followed with a hold and a break to win the first set 6-3. In the second set, the Bruin jumped out to a 3-0 lead. Cantos Siemers won the next two games for a chance to get back on serve, but was broken for a 4-3 match. Neither player was able to hold the rest of the way, giving Forbes the win, 6-4.
Buckeyes Isabelle Boulais and Kolie Allen lost in the first round of the 32-team doubles tournament to No. 2 seed Sara Daavettila and Morra of North Carolina.
The Buckeyes, ranked 50th, climbed out of a 2-0 hole to take a 3-2 lead in the first set, before the Tar Heels won the next two games for a 4-3 advantage. Ohio State broke at love in the next game to get on serve and then held for a 5-4 set. UNC tied the match, winning on the no-ad point, and then broke to go ahead 6-5, serving it out to take the first set 7-5. In the second, UNC won the first three games. The Buckeyes got on the board with a break, but the Tar Heels won the last three games, breaking on the no-ad point to claim the second set and the match.
Cantos Siemers ends the year 22-6 overall, with a 17-6 record in dual matches. The tandem of Boulais and Allen was 15-4 overall, 15-3 in dual play.
