Buckeyes Shoot Round of the Day, Finish 3rd at the Kepler

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State finished strong at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate, posting the only under-par round of the day, a 1-under 283 on Sunday, to jump five spots and finish in third place.
Individually, sophomore Jackson Chandler led the Buckeyes on the weekend with a seventh-place finish at 1-over par. He made 12 birdies over the three rounds which was tied for the most in the field. This was his third Top 10 finish in his career and the first this season.
Freshman Maxwell Moldovan played another steady round, posting a 1-over 72 and finishing in 17th place at 4-over par.
After making just one birdie in 36 holes on Saturday, freshman Adam Wallin made four birdies and an eagle in his first seven holes on Sunday. He finished with the low round of the day which was a 2-under 69. That lifted him into a tie for 25th at 7-over par.
Elis Svard opened the tournament with a 79 on Saturday morning but came back with a 73 in round two and posted a 1-under 70 in the final round on Sunday. He finished at 9-over par and in a tie for 40th. Felix Kvarnstrom rounded out the Buckeye A team on Sunday with a 77.
Senior Kevin Stone had a tough day on Saturday but rebounded in a nice way, making three birdies in a final round of 1-under 70. Patrick Schmucking led the B team on the weekend, carding rounds of 74-70-74 to finish in a tie for 18th at 5-over par. He tied Chandler for the most birdies in the event with 12.
Grant Engle also had a solid tournament, posting scores of 72-73-75 to finish at 7-over par and in a tie for 25th. He led the tournament in par-5 scoring, playing them at 5-under par.
Laken Hinton finished up with a 78 on Sunday and Caleb Davern came home with an 82.
JonErik Alford, who played as an individual this weekend, made three birdies in his final round of 1-over 72 and he finished at 14-over par.
The Buckeyes have concluded the regular season and now will set its sights on next weekend’s Big Ten Championship which is being played at Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel, Ind. The 54-hole event is set to get underway on Friday, April 30 and conclude on Sunday, May 2.
